Biographical Sketch: Dr. Freitas specializes in immunology. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science from the Universidad de Los Andes, Bogota, Columbia and the Associates of Science in Business Management and Financial Accounting at the LDS Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah. She then completed a Doctor of Philosophy in Microbiology and Molecular Biology with a Molecular Immunology focus at Brigham Young University. She is an Assistant Professor at Roseman University of Health Sciences where she teaches courses in Immunology.

Dr. Freitas has authored and co-authored publications on the alteration of intracellular calcium mobilization, T cell calcium signaling regulation, common gut microbial metabolites, and the improvement of calcium mobilization. She has presented numerous posters on topics such as, e-cigarette inflammatory effects, HPRT overexpression, as well as CD5 co-receptor influences T cell metabolism, gut microbiota and cognitive behavior. She has also been awarded external and internal grants by 3M and BYU Simmons Center for Cancer Research.

Dr. Freitas is a member of the International Association for Dental Research, American Dental Education Association, and the American Association of Immunologists. Prior to joining Roseman University, she completed her Doctorate at BYU where she served during the summer of 2018 as a Research Fellow at the BYU Simmons Center for Cancer Research.
